Cubao has a certain charm in the 80's and 90's and I really miss it. I hope everyone still remember the old remote control play area at the old Rustan's supermarket and the crowd that surrounds it during weekends. I'd recall that there were two of those inside the supermarket. One was for boats and the other were for car racing. Each game session would cost less than 5php (15minutes per session) if i'm correct and you'd see floating cockroach in the boat area. LOL :)
Araneta Coliseum would always have a special place in my heart. I remember that Kowloon House and Dunkin Donuts had their own standalone stand around the coliseum. Special siopao from Kowloon House would cost less than 50php and there were more meat than bread. The only sauce that you get for your siopao is the hot and spicy type. One would have trouble finishing off one special siopao because of its size. Miss the old days!
Last entry for the day. Anyone recall the rivalry between Rivermaya and E-heads during the 90's. Their songs would be in a tug-of-war for #1 and I fondly recall WLS-fm having tons of callers before lunchtime rooting for "With a Smile" or "214". That racket lasted for weeks and it was a nice run for the songs and the bands as well. I think "Triggerman" was the DJ in charge of the polls during that time.

for me Cubao will always be remembered for Araneta Coliseum, Fiesta Carnival, SM, Rustan's and Ali Mall... :)
Don't forget COD and the December shows :)
Fiesta Carnival FTW!
Though may Fiesta Carnival pa rin ngayon, pero iba pa rin yung feel nung "old Fiesta Carnival".

My family used to go there every Sunday to eat at Ma Mon Luk which is along Aurora Blvd. in Cubao. And we were always present at the COD shows, too every Christmas. Those were the days. :D
